This is a fixed term post until 31/10/2026.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Social Worker in the Community Learning Disability Team within West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership. We are a busy, team that predominantly works within the local authority’s duties and responsibilities under the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968, Self-Directed Support (Scotland) Act 2013, Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 and the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000; alongside all other adult service legislation that governs social work practice.

We are looking for a Full-Time Senior Social Worker to work 35 hours per week, 2 year fixed term, to work alongside another senior social worker to support staff and oversee service provision covering the West Dunbartonshire area. You will be required to have some supervisory experience or experience of ensuring strong governance.

You will work closely with the Integrated Operational Manager and the other Senior Social Worker in team, as well as colleagues from across the integrated health and social care partnership and locality social work teams. A primary role in this position will be the management, supervision and support of, Social Workers in the team.

You will be a self-motivated, dynamic individual who is committed to promoting and ensuring that the adults we are supporting remain the focus of the team’s work.

You will have the skills to initiate and develop effective working relationships with colleagues and other agencies and contribute to the development of service delivery for adults in the local area. You must have the ability to undertake thorough prioritisation of referrals and workload management for a busy and dynamic service.

This is an ideal opportunity to gain managerial experience within a busy and challenging yet stimulating and supportive environment. You will receive good support and regular supervision.

A DipSW/CQSW/CSS qualification or equivalent is essential as is SSSC registration.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities
