Requirements

You will be qualified to practice as a Solicitor in Scotland.

Responsibilities

You will assist in the provision of all legal and associated services to the Council, its Committees, Services, staff and, where appropriate, to any organisation in which the Council has an interest. You will assist in the management of the Legal Service. You will be part of a wide and varied team focussing on the provision of legal services pertaining to commercial and contractual matters relating to Dundee City Council. The role will include the provision of all legally related functions of the Council, its Committees and Departments, including conveyancing, contracts, and work in relation to statutory orders and procedures ensuring that the provision of legal and associated services to Service Departments is in accordance with the needs and objectives of Services.

The Individual

You will have experience in traineeship and post-qualifying experience in relevant areas of work. You will be a skilled communicator with organisational and administrative skills. You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to work under pressure, work to tight deadlines and prioritise your work. You will be adaptable to change and available for evening or weekend duties. You will have a willingness to undertake appropriate job-related training if appropriate. A satisfactory Standard Disclosure Scotland check is required.
