An exciting opportunity has become available for nurses to support the provision of urgent care while delivering ward based care at Portree Hospital on the picturesque Isle of Skye on the rugged west coast of Scotland and serves the population of Skye. This role will offer the opportunity for you to work within a supportive team who are dedicated to the provision of quality care. So if you are interested in working within a dedicated and supportive team with the opportunity to further develop and enhance your skills then this is the role for you.  This is a rewarding and hands-on role where youll have the opportunity to make a real impact working with the welcoming communities on Skye.

You will be a Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register and possess effective communication skills, both written and verbal. You will work autonomously to provide care to in-patients and will work collaboratively with the Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Rural Emergency Practitioners based at Broadford Hospital. Working knowledge of virtual consultation is desirable but not essential as training will be provided and the ability to work predominately from 20:00-08:30 is also desirable however internal rotation onto days will be required. NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
