Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated senior staff nurse to join our team in Belford Hospital, Combined Assessment Unit. CAU encompasses a 17 bedded acute admission ward, 2 bedded enhanced care unit for patients requiring up to level 2 care. A GP referral unit, Monday-Friday.

CAU currently sees all emergencies admitted through A&E & GPs. We are developing our GP referral service and the successful candidate would be pivotal in shaping this service for the future. Our 2 bedded enhanced care facility is equipped for patients requiring up to level 2 care prior to onward transfer.

The position would be suited to an individual who is organised, forward thinking and dedicated to ensuring the highest standard of patient care in a busy multi-speciality area. You should also be eager to be involved in quality improvement and education of staff. Two years post registration experience in an acute care area is essential.  HDU experience is desirable.

This is a fully rotational post days and nights.

If you are a Band 5 looking for career development and new challenges or currently working at Band 6 and want to join our team please get in touch.

For informal enquiries please contact Senior Charge Nurse Eilidh MacDonald or Lesley Pow, tel: or email: eilidh.macdonald5@nhs.scot or lesley.pow@nhs.scot

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
