Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to a 16 bedded Acute inpatient Mental Health ward within the rural area of Argyll and Bute.

Working in a remote and rural area like Argyll & Bute, offers a unique opportunity to work within dynamic teams with beautiful scenery, in some of the most beautiful and breath-taking landscapes in the UK.

The ward offers a varied experience within the remit of Mental Health and works well with community and emergency care practicioners.

As a band 6 you will be expected to have good communication skills, be able to prioritise, work safely and effectively as well as be a team player. 

You will be required to manage the shift as the nurse in charge and deputise for the Band 7 when required.

Argyll & Bute offers a wide range of activities with in a stunning landscape that would suit both single and families alike. There are the islands of Islay, Mull and Jura that  attrack visitors from all ages,  from the nature lovers to the whisky tasters as well as famous towns of Oban and Inverary.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
