Full Job Description

We offer first-class flexible working benefits, excellent employee well-being support and a great pension. We are fortunate to have a range of excellent staff networks and are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader employer. We will support talented people from all backgrounds to build a career and thrive. We actively welcome applications from anyone who shares our commitment to inclusion. UK Space Agency's Strategy Team Strategy is the choices we make to match our ambitions for space with our resources, respond to challenges and opportunities and set a compelling direction for our staff and stakeholders. At every level in our organisation our strategy ensures that what we do and how we do it delivers the government's space priorities and our vision of space benefiting our people and our planet. Strategic decisions are never easy. The Strategy Team offers real choices to our senior team by clarifying complex issues and generating actionable insights. We're fearlessly curious and creative and never stop building the capabilities and connections we need to understand what's happening and offer a great service to our Agency. By doing so we set the direction for everyone in our organisation, power up our programmes with insights and new ideas and help our teams keep delivery on track. In this role you will:

  • deliver UK Space Agency's Spending Review bid and allocate the funding we receive for the next 3-5 years, working with DSIT and our Corporate Planning team;
  • lead the delivery of strategy projects for our directors and Board, to ensure UK Space Agency understands and can deliver its priorities;
  • take a lead role in developing our team's capabilities and ensure that it continues to be a great place to work.
  • This role is ideal for anyone looking to develop leadership and strategy skills and participate in the most senior discussions shaping the work of an exciting and innovative organisation. We're a small, friendly team that's invested heavily in our own development, with an active programme of individual and peer learning that you will have the opportunity to shape and nurture.

    The UK Space Agency (UKSA) is an executive agency of the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT) and provides technical advice on the government's space strategy, supporting the UK space sector to deliver the government's vision. Space is a part of everyday life. Satellites underpin our national economy, from agriculture and banking to aviation and shipping, and support our national security. Space science provides critical data to understand and address global challenges such as climate change, while missions to explore our solar system unite nations and advance humanity's horizons. We support a thriving space sector in the UK, which generates an annual income of £16.5 billion and employs 47,000 people across the country. Through our portfolio of programmes and projects, we encourage the development of national space capabilities and are an early-stage investor in space research and development. We also promote the UK space sector's interests and achievements; make connections to join up industry and academia; and represent the UK in international space programmes. We have a powerful global voice, partnering with institutions across the world, including the European Space Agency.
