We are currently looking for a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join the Group Sustainability & Stewardship team on a permanent basis. This role can be based out of either of our Alderley Edge, Edinburgh, or London offices.

As a member of the Group Sustainability & Stewardship team (GSS), you will provide consultancy advice, analysis and insight, alongside support and challenge for the Group on sustainability and stewardship matters.

About the role

-Analyse, challenge and oversee delivery of the operational emissions process through from data collection to calculation and reporting, in line with the GHG Protocol and Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF), acting as SME.
-Assist the portfolio emissions process as needed through review and challenge, including knowledge of investment data.
-Design and implement the carbon offset strategy, obtaining buy in from senior stakeholders.
-Provide consultancy advice, research and insight on sustainability matters as required, including peer research, regulatory guidance, and industry best practice across a wide range of subjects, pivoting as required.
-Support teams across the Group in incorporating climate change and sustainability considerations into business decision-making and organisational practices.
-Consult with business teams to identify improvements to sustainability approaches, identifying alternatives, assessing feasibility, and recommending new considerations whilst incorporating risk, cost and benefits; challenging and influencing where needed.
-Support other team members with day-to-day delivery of team objectives, acting as first review where needed.

About you

-Strong understanding of the pensions and asset management sectors, including business practices and priorities.
-Demonstrable knowledge of operational and value chain emissions, including portfolio emissions.
-A good understanding of GHG emissions calculation and reporting and PCAF.
-An understanding of carbon offsetting approaches is advantageous.
-Ability to handle, interpret and analyse large data sets to draw out meaning. Ability to analyse and interpret data from MSCI/other external investment data providers, is preferable.
-Whilst a sustainability-related qualification / certificate is helpful, a traditional or non-sustainability financial services qualification is also valuable - e.g. actuarial, investments, accounting etc.
-Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills; excellent all-round communicator, able to work confidently with senior stakeholders.
-Team-player with ability to support and advise more junior members of the team.
