Full Job Description

As a Senior Tester you will be responsible for designing, communicating, and implementing the Test approaches in Bitesize product development. You will work closely with all members of the product development team including Software Engineers, the UX Team and Product Managers.

  • Collaborating and integrating with team members to ensure the delivery of a product to specification.
  • Creating manual and/or automated test cases to verify functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Liaising with other product teams to ensure joined-up testing approaches for multi-team projects.
  • Troubleshooting, finding critical bugs or verifying reported issues and identifying their underlying cause.
  • Producing descriptive and concise reports that evidence the functionality of a product.
  • Communicating status information and issues to a variety of stakeholders
  • Keeping up with developments in testing methodology by attending specialist interest groups and conferences, both externally and within the BBC.
  • Contributing to the development of junior team members.

    Good aptitude for learning new technologies and ways of working.
  • Ability to create, adapt and execute effective test strategies.
  • Good written and spoken communications skills; comfortable engaging at all levels in the organisation.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Working knowledge of product/defect/test case management systems.
  • Good understanding of test automation and its value and application within agile delivery.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and tackle them with a pragmatic approach.
  • An appreciation of good user experience and able to be the users' advocate.
  • Ability to be the main test representative within an agile team and advocate for a whole team approach to quality".

    As part of the Children's & Education department this role is working across the Bitesize family of products. It consists of full stack development teams building scalable services in React.js and Node hosted on AWS.
