Then join us at Stantec! We're interested in speaking to Senior Transport Planners that are seeking to join our busy and growing Active Travel Team in Scotland either now or in the coming months. The Team support clients with encouraging, and making it safer, to walk, cycle and wheel to match the aspirations of national, regional and local policy and in accordance with relevant design standards and best practice. We undertake projects in the context of the climate emergency and the push for carbon net zero while considering the needs of all to shape a people friendly built environment. You will work closely with local communities to understand their needs and deliver studies (including through the RIBA / Sustrans Places for Everyone process). As a Senior Transport Planner, you will have a broad understanding of all elements of the transport planning profession but with a focus on delivering active travel studies. Existing skills are as beneficial as an enthusiasm for learning new skills and capabilities which Stantec will be committed to investing and supporting you with. You will play an important role in the team, mentoring, and training junior staff. You will support technical staff in respect of project delivery for cycle design and active travel projects. You will assist with technical bid submissions and / or fee proposals. You will provide technical support to deliver projects, including:
- Active travel route / network audits
- Infrastructure design in accordance with RIBA / Places for Everyone
- Cycle audits
- Option identification and appraisal (including STAG based approach)
- Travel Planning and behaviour change
- Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA) and Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA)
- Carbon net zero / neutrality
- Active travel funding applications
You will have a Masters or Bachelor's degree in Transport, Engineering or a relevant discipline, chartership would be a plus. You will have a background in active travel, and ideally have some consultancy experience. You will have an understanding of the framework in which active travel projects are delivered and funded. You will manage projects of all scales, including financial and resource management. You will have an understanding of the relevant technical standards for active travel. An ability to produce CAD drawings for active travel schemes and utilise different software to deliver projects would be beneficial.
