Full Job Description

Job Description

Angus Council is looking to recruit an experienced and collaborative leader to manage all aspects of the roads and transportation services of the council, whilst ensuring our citizens remain at the heart of service design, delivery, and scrutiny.

The Service Leader for Roads and Transportation is responsible for a varied, and rewarding remit that includes roads maintenance, flood risk management, coastal protection, street lighting, roads safety, active travel, bus services, parking enforcement and the operation of Arbroath Harbour.

This pivotal role provides an exciting opportunity to lead a service that delivers on a variety of projects. From Arbroath, A Place For Everyone, a once-in-a-lifetime transformational project that will connect destinations throughout the town whilst improving accessibility, as well as being a catalyst for the development of further projects to support the regeneration of the town, to restoring the Bridge of Dun, a Grade A listed bridge that was damaged during Storm Babet.

Angus Council embraces agile working, so you’ll be able to balance your time between home, sites and office-based working at Angus House at Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar.  We are happy to discuss agile workstyles and flexible working arrangements during the recruitment process.

As a county, Angus offers a great balance between the rural Glens and expansive beaches, as well as our vibrant local towns,  all within easy reach of Dundee, Aberdeen, and the Central Belt. We enjoy good schools, healthcare facilities and plenty of housing options, so relocation should be seriously considered.

If you would like to arrange a confidential discussion to find out more about the role please contact Graeme Dailly, Director of Infrastructure and Environment by email at DaillyG@angus.gov.uk.

Please note interviews will be held week commencing 28 October 2024.
