Full Job Description

In line with the proposals to restructure our services in Scotland we have created a new service based Service Manager role in Scotland. This role will be responsible and accountable for holding and maintaining the appropriate registration and the overall management of the service(s) in accordance with Leonard Cheshire's vision, mission, policies, and procedures. The Service Manager will directly manage the day-to-day operation of the service(s). Managing resources to ensure exemplary customer service to people who use our services whilst ensuring budgetary compliance. The Service Manager will be accountable for monitoring, maintaining, and providing the highest standards of personal and clinical support and service delivery while promoting independence and choice to customers. They will be responsible for the line management of the Team Leaders within each service, with overall accountability for all staff working in the service(s)., When you apply, please ensure that you tell us the Service Manager role you would like to be considered for. Interview preparation In advance of the interview please prepare a PowerPoint presentation answer the following brief. "The service based Service Manager is a new role within the Scottish team. Should you be successful, you would have the opportunity to work with the Director Scotland, the Operations Managers and the wider team to continue to develop the care provision within the Leonard Cheshire services in Scotland. With this in mind, please can you prepare a presentation, which should last no longer that 15 minutes, outlining how you would approach the role, who you believe your key stakeholders would be and the main areas that you would focus on to support the service team that you'd be responsible for."   • Recognised social care qualification and registration (as appropriate to the needs of the respective Service).
  • To hold a SVQ Level 4 qualification in health and social care or currently be working towards or prepared to work towards this.
  • Equivalent qualification as required for registration with the Care Inspectorate.
  • Significant experience of operating in a supervisory or management capacity in a care environment.
  • Desirable to have a full, clean driving licence (as required, where necessary)
  • Demonstrable commitment to continue training and developing professionally including keeping up to date with current knowledge of standards and legislation.
  • To be able and willing to travel and stay away overnight if required.
  • Key competencies and skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to motivate others.
  • An ability to manage budgets, understand and analyse spreadsheets and make effective decisions to drive efficiencies at service level.
  • To be able to work on their own or as part of a team.
  • To demonstrate an understanding of the needs of customers.
  • Understanding of employment practice and Health and Safety legislation.
  • Clear understanding of and ability to deliver to the regulatory framework and legal environment in which we work.
  • To have highly developed IT skills in standard Microsoft packages.

    The new Service Manager posts will be contracted at 35 hours per week and will be service based. The salary for the roles will start from £35,000 per annum plus enhanced benefits and will be dependent on skills, experience and knowledge.
