SERVICE MANAGER - BAND 8A

Full Time (37 hours per week) / Permanent

Salary Scare £60,126 - £64906 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Manager, who is absolutely committed to enhancing patient care, through the efficient and effective management of clinical services within Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the multi-disciplinary team in allocated areas of responsibility, incorporating operational, strategic and quality aspects combined with the future development of the service.  The post holder will, as part of a team of multi-disciplinary staff, provide a service for Raigmore Hospital in line with the strategy for NHS Highland.  This will include medical, allied health professionals, nursing and clerical staff. 

You will work with colleagues in the hospital and across NHS Highland in developing a vision for allocated services, leading ongoing review and redesign of the service to meet the needs of patients in an efficient and cost-effective manner.  You will be responsible for the service budget, clearly demonstrating a sound understanding of financial governance and risk management, and for the management of staff to ensure staffing levels meet service delivery needs.

The applicant must be able to demonstrate a real commitment to working across all relevant aspects of the service, showing an ability to enthuse, motivate and give commitment to meeting exacting deadlines.  Previous experience of operational management is desired along with evidence of excellent personal organisational and communication skills.

A demonstrable commitment to improving the services we provide to patients is absolutely essential.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
