Full Job Description

National Oilwell Varco is expanding its team in Great Yarmouth and your current skills and knowledge of Export and Import both UK and International will be critical to its success. As Shipping assistant, you will be required to utilise your skills in providing excellent support and co-ordination within our Shipping Team, exporting our products on a global scale. You will be a key member of the function within the department working closely with our Compliance and Commercial Teams you will be responsible for processing all incoming components and outgoing products - managing and maintaining all relating documentation. You will bring excellent Export and Import knowledge to the team complimenting the existing competencies within the group. You will have a high level of accuracy, good time management skills, and the ability to work using your own initiative to provide successful support within a strong Team. You will be keen to take on fresh challenges and willing to develop your knowledge within your role - always working towards satisfying the department, internal customer, and client requirements.,

  • To organise the shipment of all export orders: obtaining quotes from freight agents, preparing all relevant documentation
  • Manage the incoming shipment of goods, preparing all relevant documentation and informing relevant internal customers.
  • To advise the customer of delivery date of goods.
  • Upload export docs to NOV portal to allow brokerage to provide export documentation.
  • Proactively manage customer relationships by liaising with other internal and external departments to collate relevant delivery information to ensure orders are shipped within a timely manner.
  • Ensure relevant documentation for export orders are prepared in line with company standards.
  • Liaise with Freight Forwarders and oversee all freight activity via road, air, or sea.
  • Ensure accurate Shipping Log filing/ archiving system is maintained - compiling and maintaining consignment files.
  • Ensure freight agent is advised of import clearance instructions and customs import record is maintained.
  • Ensure personal compliance with all HSE legislation and HSE Company policy.
  • Be fully familiar and fully conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance at all times.
  • Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager., Carry out all duties safely and in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy, Employee Handbook, procedures, training and instruction.

  • 2 years previous experience of International Imports & Exports.
  • Good standard of high school education or equivalent.
  • Experience (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of Import/Export Customs procedures.
  • Experience of OMEGA ERP system
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
