Job Opportunity: Freelance Site Engineer for Civil Engineering Projects

Job Overview

Contract Scotland is collaborating with a civil engineering contractor to offer an exciting freelance opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer based in Edinburgh. The role requires an immediate start and spans a duration of 6 months. The ideal candidate will have experience in groundworks, particularly setting out for drainage.

You will become an integral part of the existing team, working within their engineering team to deliver several projects on time and within budget while maintaining the highest quality of service.

Responsibilities

As a Site Engineer, your key duties will include:

  • Setting out for drainage on site.
  • Undertaking and presenting accurate level surveys.
  • Checking plans, drawings, and quantities for accuracy of calculations.
  • Highlighting any discrepancies with the drawings.
  • Quantifying materials.
  • Overseeing quality control and health and safety matters on site.
  • Supporting the Site Manager and performing any other site engineering duties as required.
  • Monitoring progress and performance and reporting to the Site Manager.
  • Administering and recording Quality Assurance systems on site.

What You Can Expect

  • Duration: Guaranteed work for 6 months.
  • Payment Methods: CIS, PAYE, and Limited Company.
  • Rate: £28 to £30 per hour (gross), dependent on experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum of HNC level qualification or equivalent in civil engineering.
  • Previous civil engineering experience in a contracting environment is essential.
  • Experience with Trimble or Leica equipment is essential.
  • Experience using CAD-based programmes is essential.
  • Valid CSCS card and SMSTS certification.
