Social Care Worker

18.5 hours per week, shift working over seven days
Permanent
£31,942 - £32,642 / £33,448 - £35,910 pro rata
£16.56 - £16.92 / £17.34 - £18.61 per hour
The above amounts include Shift Allowance and Distant Islands Allowance

It is essential that this post is occupied by a female and Part 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 will apply.

The Glaitness Centre is located in Kirkwall and comprises purpose built supported accommodation, a short breaks house, and day care facilities for people with physical disabilities. There will be opportunity to work in all parts of the service, as the service requires.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person who is able to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team. You will adopt a person-centred, outcome focused approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Supported Accommodation, Short Breaks and Day Service. You will provide support and assistance to service users using the re-ablement approach, which includes support and assistance to maximise and maintain their independence and to access community facilities.You should have knowledge and experience of Support Planning and Risk Assessing in relation to people who have disabilities and be committed to the principles of social inclusion.

Applicants should hold an SVQ2 Social Services and Health Care or equivalent level qualification. An SVQ3 Social Services and Health Care, or other relevant qualification to enable registration with SSSC is also required but where applicants do not hold this, they are required to achieve it within 3 years of appointment.

Registration with the SSSC, as a Practitioner in a Housing Support service with Care at Home, within 3 months of employment, is also required.

This post is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
