Job Advert

Summerford House Reablement service is a 27 bedded resource centre  providing  short term reablement care to adults over the age of 55 within the Falkirk area. Taking a “doing with” approach we support people to rebuild, retain or regain their skills and confidence – maximising independence to support a safe discharge home.

Due to a service review we  are offering an exciting opportunity for successful candidates to join our experienced, motivated and passionate team. Working in a  fast-paced environment you will support admissions from hospital and the community, working daily with the service users taking a supportive and caring approach to achieve and maintain their independence. You will work as part of a team of social care staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and rehab support workers, working jointly to provide direct care to support service users to achieve their goals, maximise their independence and support a safe discharge home.

You will work to Health and Social Care Standards My Support My Life  to deliver a high level of person centred reablement care and will be supported with  training and development opportunities to fulfil  your role as social care worker.

You must have a caring positive attitude and  experience of,  or an understanding  of, the care needs of older people and the effects of ageing and disability. You will be skilled in assessment and recording. You must have good communication skills, a flexible positive attitude and be able to work as part of a team but also  to manage your own workload, use your initiative and work on your own.

These are temporary  contracts of 37 hours per week – you will be required to work on a shift rota basis covering a variety of shifts which will include evenings and weekends.

An SVQ level 3 in social care or the willingness to work towards this together with moving and handling training would be desirable.

You must be able to register with the SSSC as a Practitioner in Care Home Services for older adults and hold or obtain the relevant qualification within the regulatory time scale of three years.

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain and maintain PVG scheme membership.
