Hourly rate of pay: £20.41-£22.74

Days and hours of work:
Monday - Friday, 09:00-17:00
Flexi time is applicable, and starting and finishing times are flexible.

This vacancy is a permanent post:  Social Worker in the Fostering team. The team comprises of a Team Leader who is supported by 2 Senior Practitioners ( all P/T) and three and half social workers (3 F/T one P/T).

We are a busy team working hard in all aspects of recruiting, training, assessing and supporting foster carers.

The successful candidate will hold a manageable case load that would involve all aspects of our work, including: assessing foster carers; facilitating preparation training to prospective foster carers and support groups to current foster carers and working as part of our duty service, taking enquiries, referrals and dealing with emergency situations.

East Lothian Children’s Services has an exciting opportunity for a full time post within the fostering team.

We are looking to recruit a social worker who has either experience of working in family placement or an interest and enthusiasm for getting involved in this area of work. The applicant should have experience of working within current Child Protection guidelines as well as some knowledge of current legislation which concerns children and families generally and  family placement work specifically.

This is a busy team, but one that works with a great deal of commitment and enthusiasm. The team  applies a great deal of knowledge and experience to their work and offers to an applicant significant opportunities for learning new skills and applying social work theory to their practice.

Applicants should have a sound value base, excellent communication and report writing skills and a working knowledge and understanding of the family placement social work role and responsibilities.

Job Requirements

Education/Qualifications
Essential: Approved qualification in Social Work, and SSSC registration.
Those with international Social Work qualifications should not apply unless they are fully registered with the SSSC.

Driving Licence
Full current driving licence and access to a vehicle*

PVG/Disclosure Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
