Vacancy Information

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay: £21.14 - £23.56
Days/hours of work:
Working 2.5 days a week, days of work are negotiable, flexi time is applicable.

East Lothian Children’s Services have an exciting opportunity for a social worker to join the Intake and Assessment Team. The team consists of 2 team leaders, senior practitioners, social workers, family support workers and administrative support. Our Children's Services Intake and Assessment team is the single point of entry for all children/families referrals to the local authority.

All of Children’s Services is located in open plan office with onsite parking, we promote an open, trusting and communicative culture at all levels.

Applicants should have a sound value base, excellent communication and report writing skills and a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Child Protection processes, as well as, a knowledge about Children and Families social work legislation, role and responsibilities. In East Lothian our social workers practice is focused on our Signs of Safety assessment framework with an emphasis on relationship based interventions.

Working in a dynamic team in a fast-paced and varied environment, you will undertake assessments when there are child protection concerns, assessments of children-in-need. You will undertake direct, time-limited work with children/young people and their families. You will contribute to the work of the team on a duty-rota, carry an allocated short-term caseload of children and young people.

Job Requirements

Education/Qualifications
Essential: Approved qualification in Social Work, and SSSC registration.
Those with international Social Work qualifications should not apply unless they are fully registered with the SSSC.

Driving Licence
Full current driving licence and access to a vehicle*

PVG/Disclosure Requirements
