This is an exciting opportunity to join our professionally challenging and rewarding justice service. You will have personal qualities, professional skills and knowledge which will be applied and tested in service delivery within a justice social work team, with specific focus on delivering an accredited group and individual intervention to adults convicted of sexual offences.

You will manage justice throughcare licences and will undertake appropriate court and post release assessments, case management and recording and monitoring work using electronic case recording systems.

It is essential that you have a BA (Hons) in Social Work or equivalent; be registered with the SSSC, committed to social work values and have experience working with those who have been involved in sexually offending. The post requires the ability to work up to two evenings per week within the 35 hours, and to attend and achieve competence in relevant training.

The post involves undertaking risk assessments in relation to sexual offending in accordance with nationally approved tools and providing intervention both on a group work and individual basis.  Thus competence in undertaking Moving Forward 2 Change, and the range of relevant risk assessment tools such as SA07, RM2000 and LSCMI is desirable.

Work is often with other disciplines or in multi-discipline settings, either within or out with the Department - this includes within Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements.  The post holder needs to be able to make critical analysis of their personal practice and performance in conjunction with line management.

Experience of interventions with those with a range of issues such as addiction, housing, and employability issues is desirable, as is experience of writing reports to courts and the Parole Board. Experience in child and adult protection is also desirable.

As this post involves access and use of ViSOR and involvement in MAPPA cases, preferred candidates will be required to undergo the Non-Police Personnel Vetting, currently NPPV (full) level 2. Ongoing review will be required in line with agreed Home Office standards at that time.

If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post. If you would like further information in relation to the Disclosure Scotland checks, please visit www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
