Full Job Description
We are currently recruiting experienced Social Workers to join our Children and Families Team in Chesterfield. This is a frontline child protection role, requiring resilient professionals who are confident in managing complex cases and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and their families.
You will be based at The Quad in Chesterfield, covering the Chesterfield locality. Working alongside a supportive team, you'll be responsible for assessments, direct work with children, and progressing care plans through legal proceedings when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of children in need, children subject to child protection plans, and those in care proceedings.
Undertake high-quality assessments and develop effective, outcome-focused care plans.
Conduct statutory visits, safeguard children, and carry out interventions with children and families.
Prepare detailed reports and statements for court proceedings and attend hearings as required.
Work collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals, and external agencies.
Maintain accurate and timely records, meeting all statutory requirements and performance indicators.
Degree or postgraduate qualification in Social Work (BA/BSc/MA Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or equivalent).
Registration with Social Work England (must be current and valid).
A minimum of 3 years' post-qualifying experience in frontline children's services.
Proven knowledge and application of relevant legislation and statutory guidance (e.g., Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together 2018).
Demonstrated experience of court work and legal processes.
Ability to manage high-risk cases and work effectively under pressure.
Excellent communication, assessment, and case management skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Prior experience working within a local authority child protection team.
Confident using electronic case management systems (e.g., Liquidlogic).
Strong report-writing, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
