Full Job Description

As part of the Platform Engineering Group, your responsibilities will be to collaborate within a growing cross functional organisation tasked with the inception and continuance of a series of services underpinning the largest digital transformation in the company's history. You will be tasked with the creation and maintenance of high-quality software applications, cooperating with professionals from different disciplines and of varying experience levels, enabling you the opportunities to mentor and learn from colleagues. We encourage our Software Engineers to be capable of working across the entire technology stack, using Infrastructure As Code (IAC) to stand up new services, writing robust backend scripts to communicate with data storage, and creating intuitive interfaces to enable interaction with the application. The organisation adopts the approach of using the best tool for the job, so we currently have services written in a variety of languages such as PHP, C#, Python, SQL and JavaScript, and we advocate the use of other languages where the use case makes sense.,

  • Collaborate within a team of cross functional professionals to deliver value in an Agile environment

  • Review problems and design solutions in a high velocity, iterative software development lifecycle

  • Take charge of personal development and pursue additional certification with guidance from experienced mentors

  • Mentor colleagues in appropriate software development techniques and assist with their career progression

  • Accountable for the delivery of robust solutions in pragmatic timescales Participate in the innovation of our Engineering Practises by experimenting with new technologies and processes

    Proven experience as a Software Engineer, with a focus on TypeScript, Python, Terraform, and AWS technologies.

  • Familiarity with .Net applications is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of software development principles and best practices.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is desirable.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Examples of previous innovative decisions that impacted the delivery of projects

  • Capable of designing modular systems with clear contracts between components

  • Evidence of ability to successfully achieve relevant Certifications and Training

  • Experience working as part of a team in a role with significant accountability

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities in a remote/hybrid work environment
