Full Job Description
- Providing advice on issues related to the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and initiating proceedings where appropriate.
- Advising on Mental Capacity Act 2005 issues, including initiating proceedings when necessary.
- Bringing or signposting judicial review claims, civil claims, or discrimination claims as they arise from Court of Protection matters.
- Handling a caseload of complex Court of Protection cases, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and best practices.
- Supervising and supporting junior team members, providing guidance on casework and ensuring high standards are maintained across the department.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members, ensuring they deliver high-quality legal services.
- Supervise Trainee Solicitors and Caseworkers, managing caseload types and complexities, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the department.
- Deliver training and development programs for junior staff, promoting excellence in Court of Protection practice.
- Ensure compliance with file management, billing, and administrative procedures.
- Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency for eligible clients.
- Maintain strong relationships with referral agencies and contribute to the firm's business development efforts by marketing the practice and expanding the client base.
- Assist with the firm's billing targets.
Are you an experienced and highly skilled Solicitor with a solid background in Court of Protection Health/Welfare work? Bison, a dynamic and forward-thinking firm, is seeking a committed Senior Solicitor to manage a diverse and challenging caseload while providing expert supervision and guidance to the department., Minimum 2 year PQE with Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. - Proven case-management experience, with a track record of meeting or exceeding billing targets.
- Excellent communication and networking skills, with the ability to advise clients on complex legal issues, both orally and in writing.
- Proven supervisory experience in managing and developing junior staff members.
- A good network of contacts within the legal and referral communities.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills with experience in drafting and litigating.
- Advocacy experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Legal Aid Funding Rules and CCMS, Supervising experience: 2 years (required)
