Full Job Description

Working with the Head of Sustainability Engineering to implement programmes of work with the objectives of:

  • Lead sites to achieve zero waste from operations (waste reduction and circularity)
  • Work with GPS and Operations to improve process efficiencies.
  • Work with MSAT and Quality for solvent reduction in processes (manufacturing and cleaning).
  • Coordinate activities across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure solvent and material reduction by design.
  • Identify common solutions and lead implementation across various sites where applicable.
  • Waste data analysis, review to identify complex waste streams and solutions for circularity especially for solvents onsite or offsites.
  • Provide technical expertise to Global Capital Teams developing projects to ensure that end solution will meet GSK Zero waste ambition., To work independently but is not expected to have any direct staff responsibilities
  • Lead workshops and maintain communication across various stakeholders and teams (MSAT, Quality, Operations)
  • Manage 3rd party partnership companies
  • Be responsible for assisting in the management of team Budgets
  • Positively influence stakeholders in order to gain support and sponsorship for programme implementation.
  • Support multiple cross-site teams and communities of practice.
  • Carry out site visits in order to support sites in identifying project opportunities, developing project proposals and implementing projects. The role will involve international travel to GSK sites.

  • Support GSK Engineering and EHS leadership teams with the setting and delivery of challenging but achievable targets.

    We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • Understanding of primary processes and have worked on primary sites.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An ability to implement a programme of multi-site site activity, realizing proven benefits.
  • A track record of working with and influencing a range of senior and practitioner stakeholders at site and above site levels to develop and deliver coherent improvement activity and changes in ways of working.
  • A good working knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing site operations and multiple functions.
  • The ability to assess and report data
  • An ability to facilitate site and inter-site workshops attended by multi-functional staff.
  • Experience of working effectively across diverse multiple functions, geographic locations and local cultures
  • The ability to work effectively across international and business unit boundaries.
  • Have a good understanding of the GSK business activities, sites and management organisation.
  • Experience in prioritising and resolving technical and business process issues.
  • Experience in implementing company level strategies.
  • Experience of running and participating in change programmes and workshops e.g. Kaizens
  • A track record of delivery of projects across multiple sites
  • Strong team working, influencing and leadership skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Engineering, Environmental or EHS professional
  • Experienced in Sustainability Programmes at site level and Supply Chain level
  • Detailed or specialised knowledge of Sustainability practices and techniques
  • Up-to-date knowledge of international government and industry trends, regulations and practices in sustainability.
  • Expert knowledge of Sustainability Data Reporting at a Corporate level.
  • Experience of Project Planning
  • Successfully applied project management methods and controls in improvement projects
