SOUTHEAST ASSEMBLY LEAD – THE SCOTTISH ASSEMBLY

Southeast Scotland – ideally in or around the Edinburgh area

£12.00 / hour

16 hours/week (P/T) – initially a 1 year contract subject to a successful 3- month probation period and continued funding

Job Description:

As a Regional Facilitator, the most important thing will be to build a good and effective working relationship with your partner

- the Southeast Regional Facilitator.

Your focus as the Southeast Regional team will be to find and support more people with a learning disability and autistic people to take part in regional and national meetings, workshops and consultations.

You will need to listen to what these people have to say about things that are important to them and help them to share these things with others.

You will need to keep regional members informed about things that might be important and of interest to them both locally and nationally in ways that are accessible to them.

You will also need to build strong working relationships with decision makers, organisations, groups and agencies in your region.

You will need to use technology to connect with people through emails, Zoom, Teams, Facebook, Facetime, Messenger, Skype and WhatsApp.

You will plan, organise and facilitate regional Assembly meetings and workshops and produce easy read minutes and information.

You will need to make sure that everyone gets a chance to have their say at times and in ways that suit them.

You will need to be able to manage boundaries and take control when people argue, interrupt or are disrespectful to others.

You will have to represent The Assembly at other meetings and events.

You will also be expected to work closely with the other regional teams, the Programme Manager and our colleagues at Values into Action Scotland - the organisation that hosts The Scottish Assembly.
