Full Job Description

The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) - comprising the SEC Centre, SEC Armadillo and The OVO Hydro - is Scotland's premier destination for events. We enjoy an enviable reputation as one of Europe’s most prestigious venues, hosting a significant number of live events, conferences and exhibitions for our richly varied client and customer base.


We are looking for a full time Special Events Technician with significant experience in Lighting and Rigging, to join our Technical & Production team in line with our vision of becoming the Best Event Campus in Europe.


Our team works closely together in a busy environment, ensuring that all expectations are exceeded by providing the highest standard of production services to each event. The Special Events Technician, will take a hands-on role in assisting with logistics, scheduling and delivery of our event production services, primarily focussed on technical support, and on the floor installations.


Key responsibilities


  • To identify effective technical production solutions, matched to individual client requirements.
  • To actively engage in delivering technical support to all allocated events, ensuring best customer experience and legislative compliance from all stakeholders.
  • To assist in the design, planning and installation strategy of event rigging and lighting, providing creative design solutions where appropriate.
  • To work alongside members of the technical and production team, freelance staff and sub-contractors in the efficient and safe delivery of the SEC events.
  • To maintain SEC production lighting and rigging assets by working to a planned preventative maintenance Program.
  • To maintain an asset register of all lighting and rigging equipment, ensuring that statutory requirements for testing, inspection and maintenance are recorded.

 

 

Our ideal candidate


You will be hands-on, passionate, flexible and will be fully engaged in our high-performance culture. A specialist in the technical and production elements of event delivery, they should be able to display a knowledge of event rigging and large-scale event delivery across the live entertainment and confex sectors.

They will have a positive attitude and be driven to deliver seminal, life affirming event experiences for clients, delegates and attendees. At all times, they will embrace our mission statement; Best Venues, Best People, Best Events and convey our core values of positivity, teamwork and collaboration.


Essential attributes include extensive experience of a hands-on technical role within an events setting. You should be able to show an understanding of industry health and safety protocols and technical standards.

IPAF certification, working at height training and a working knowledge of rigging techniques and practices, preferably to NRC level 2 are desirable.
