Position

An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Dietitian - Diabetes based at University Hospital Crosshouse.

What you will do:

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Registered Dietitian to join our expanding Diabetes team working across Ayrshire. This post is based at the Diabetes Day Centre, University Hospital Crosshouse and works alongside a MDT which includes dietitians, consultant diabetologists, specialist diabetes nurses, podiatrist and administrative staff.  Referrals are received from within the team and also from GPs, practice nurses, dietetic colleagues both hospital based and community along with hospital consultant referrals.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

You will be expected to confidently use skills in both 1:1 consultations and in groups to deliver education to patients, their families and carers. To work as an integral part of the wider diabetes team and be able to promote the role of the dietitian as services for those with diabetes evolve. You will also need to exhibit leadership skills within this area and demonstrate the ability to work with statutory and voluntary organizations and agencies.

The Department provides training to A, B and C placement students and offers clinical supervision.

You should possess an Honours degree/postgraduate diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.  Experience in Diabetes is essential. Evidence of competencies and skills required to deliver this post is essential e.g. excellent interpersonal skills, excellent team working and robust prioritisation and time management skills.

Hours: 37 hours per week

UK Driving Licence
