Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Specialist Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work within the inpatient service within the Victoria Hospital, specialising in major trauma and neurology with a clinical component into the medical and surgical wards.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled OT to work alongside colleagues within the medical and surgical teams, primarily working with a range of specialist conditions, including major trauma and neurology. There will also be a requirement to provide clinical cover for general medical, surgical and orthopaedic patients across the service.

You will have a strong interest in working with patients to deliver effective evidenced based care to optimise their occupational performance and to promote safe and timely discharge from hospital.

You will have a positive experience of managing their own case load and of multi agency working and will engage in quality improvement activities both collectively and independently. As a Band 6 you will be required to support and supervise registered and non-registered staff.

The occupational therapy department supports continuing professional development through supervision, TURAS appraisal, in-service programme, and training.

You should have the ability to travel throughout Fife effectively in a timely manner as required. Part-time hours will be considered.

For informal enquiries, please contact Lorna Brocklesby, OT Manager on ext. 21646.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.
