Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. 

This is a part-time post of 29.7 hours per week, with a shift pattern of 4 days over 7.

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours. 

We are delighted to be advertising this 0.8 wte band 6 Forensic Occupational Therapist post within our highly motivated and innovative FCMH team. Initially working within the Forensic Community Learning Disabilities team, the post holder will be an independent expert forensic practitioner managing a variety of conditions which are often complex and challenging and provide a specialist occupational therapy clinical lead within a designated area. This will involve specialist assessment, treatment and evaluation on the efficacy of service user care, both individually and in groups, whilst identifying physical, mental and behavioural and risk barriers. Standardised clinical tools based on the Model of Human Occupation will be utilised where the post holder has identified their appropriateness using specialist knowledge.

The post holder will:

  • Provide specialist professional advice to other disciplines, carers and agencies.
  • Be required to engage with the wider multi-disciplinary team and to work across agencies to deliver packages of care in the role of occupational therapist.
  • Require a good knowledge of Occupational Therapy input into risk assessment & risk management, offender behaviour work and psycho-social interventions.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of the occupational therapy service within their designated area with reference to clinical governance, clinical effectiveness and national policies and drivers.
  • Lead on departmental and team projects.
  • Be responsible for the day to day management of junior staff as part of supervision systems, including clinical workload and supervision of under and post graduate pre-registration students as required.
  • Be involved in the education of other staff and agencies.

Requirements:

  • You must be Registered with the HCPC.
  • Driving licence is essential for this post due to the wide geographical area covered across the whole of NHSGGC.
