Position

An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Podiatrist at University Hospital Ayr.

What you will do:

This is an opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated Band 6 Podiatrist to contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of Podiatry Services and High risk diabetes care. You will work within and across hospital and community settings in a dynamic and supportive team.

You will have opportunities to assess, manage and develop within wound care, vascular assessment and will contribute to the delivery of new patient clinics and nail surgery. You will rotate through MDTs for diabetes complex case clinics.

You with an appetite for development and collaboration is desired.  Recent developments within the team and service includes a total contact casting service, specialist in-patient podiatry service with planned virtual MDT,  research and development in motivational interviewing to support behaviour change.

Undergraduates who are motivated to progress and have particular interests aligned to key areas of service delivery may be considered as a band 5 to develop into the role.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

HCPC registration and B.Sc. (or D.Pod.M) in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent

Local Analgesia Certificate.

Extensive experience within a variety of clinical specialities

Evidence of  further development of competencies, and demonstrable ability to be an autonomous practitioner

The ability to work flexibly and respond to changing needs.

Hours:

37 per week

UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

UK Car licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff)  until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
