NHS Ayrshire and Arran are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Specialty Doctor in ENT. This replacement ENT Specialty Doctor post is available to support the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Team within NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

This is a Locum, fixed term full time position with a view to extend after a period of one year. We are a strong team with diverse specialist skills and experience who support each other and our patients as we strive to deliver the best possible care.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran has a reputation for excellent, friendly staff who provide high quality care from University Hospital Crosshouse and University Hospital Ayr. Both are busy acute hospitals providing many specialist services and a broad range of emergency services, including Accident & Emergency at both sites. ENT sits as a specialty within the Head & Neck Directorate within Surgical Services, part of Acute Services.

Adult and Paediatric Emergency and elective ENT services are provided to the Ayrshire & Arran catchment population of 375,000 residents and the department also provides the National Cochlear Implant Service which serves all patients in Scotland.

The main base for this post is University Hospital Crosshouse where ENT in-patient and day-case services are located.  Out-patient Clinics are provided at University Hospital Crosshouse and University Hospital Ayr.  Specialist clinics include a middle ear implant clinic, neck lump and head and neck oncology clinics, cochlear clinic and balance clinic. The postholder will participate on the on-call rota (currently1:6 with prospective cover). On call duties are supported by a Consultant team.

The successful candidate will play an active role within the Service, working with the team and patients throughout all stages of treatment.

Ayrshire offers spectacular countryside and coastline to explore, world-renowned golfing all within easy reach of the vibrant, cosmopolitan city of Glasgow and the south side leafy suburbs with excellent schooling.

The middle grade on call is a 1:6 Rota with prospective cover.
