In Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Fixed Term)

NHS Lothian is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best.

To this end, NHS Lothian welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

Entry Criteria for a Specialty Doctor:

  1. A doctor appointed to this grade:
  • shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC);

And

  • shall have completed at least four years full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT);

Or

  • shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.

Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, full time(40 hours per week) post based in St Johns Hospital.

 The post has labour ward, gynaecological and antenatal outpatient and theatre sessions in addition to participation in the middle grade resident out of hours rota (1:9). There will be opportunity for development of a special interest and dedicated time for this is included in the job plan. Currently it is anticipated that an interest in either high risk obstetrics or colposcopy would be encouraged but other interests may be accommodated. In addition, a commitment to the termination of pregnancy service is desirable, but not essential. The post will be available from August 2024 and will be based at St Johns Hospital Livingston but the individual appointed may be required to work across NHS Lothian.
