Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Sunday. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Speech and Language Therapy Adult services for a full time (37 hours), permanent Band 3 Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) to work across The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) and Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI), supporting the work of Speech & Language Therapists (SLTs).

The split of hours can be negotiable, though likely to be one day at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and four days within The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. We will consider applications for all or part of these hours and would ask that you state your preference as to hours and site in your application form.

 The ideal candidate will be motivated and enthusiastic and will work directly with in patients, jointly implementing treatment programmes under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist. 

You should have formal training and/or experience in a relevant discipline e.g. SVQ level III or equivalent in health, therapy or care support and a good working knowledge of routine IT (e.g. document preparation, data inputting) and common methods of digital communication (e.g. email).

There will be a degree of flexibility regarding the working pattern of 37 hours which will be spread over the working week (Monday- Friday).

Regular supervision and support will be offered as well as training opportunities as required.
