Full Job Description
Ward 41 are currently recruiting Registered Nurses to Acute Medicine of the Elderly. We are looking for nurses who wish to develop skills in Medicine of the Elderly as well as nurses who are experienced in this specialty. We have an innovative frailty model in place at the point of admission. This enables the team to identify appropriate acute admissions into Acute Medicine of the elderly wards. The experience available to you in Medicine of the Elderly is defined within a specialist competency framework which will enable you to develop a range of skills; behaviours and knowledge to care for and support older people and where appropriate their relatives and carers. All qualities that are transferrable to many care settings and other inpatient specialties.
It is a developing specialty which offers the opportunity to care for older people who have complex conditions and acute delirium which can be challenging but highly rewarding.
You will be joining a well motivated and dynamic multi-disciplinary team who strive to deliver the highest level of care possible. Applicants must have acute hospital experience. In addition to your clinical skills we are interested in your attitude and passion for working in Medicine of the Elderly, as well as demonstration of personal values aligned to those of our team.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. Your offer/contract of employment will therefore reflect the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Hiring Manager.
A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
