Position

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Staff Nurse (Community) at Ayrshire Central Hospital.

What you will do:

You will play a vital part in assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating patient care in the community setting. Community Staff Nurses must function as part of a multidisciplinary members but also as an autonomous and independent practitioner. You must have a genuine interest in community nursing and integrated care. You must also work within the parameters of the role and undertake identified professional competencies. Staff are encouraged and supported to attain additional knowledge and competencies with their scope of practice relevant to role.

You must have the ability to work as part of a team but also independently as an autonomous practitioner under supervision of charge nurse. You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to converse with individuals from both medical and non-medical backgrounds. Working alongside colleagues from other specialities and fields of practice is vital to role. You must be motivated to provide the best person centred care possible for their patients and ensure that all interventions are in line with best practice guidelines that are evidence based.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

You must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery council with a degree in Adult nursing.  Additionally the post holder must be IT literate and able to carry out basic computer functions. 

You must be able to demonstrate evidence of professional development and that mandatory training is kept up to date.   

A diverse array of skills are necessary for the role of community staff nurse, and whilst there is the opportunity for professional development; some skills are essential to the role and the ability to support the wider team. Those include but are not limited to male, female and suprapubic catheterisation, venepuncture, palliative care, wound assessment / management and continence assessment / promotion. Additionally there are a variety of complex interventions carried out by community staff nurse that are desirable but not essential community nursing experience, palliative care/ t34 pumps, CVAD devices and compression bandaging.  Previous experience of emis web/ pcs computer systems also desirable.

Hours:

27 per week.

UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

UK Car licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.
