The shift pattern for this position is rotational and will consist of a variable shift pattern working a mixture of Early/Late/12 hour shifts.

An exciting opportunity for a Band 5 registered nurse to join our enthusiastic surgical receiving nursing team in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Do you want to work in an interesting surgical ward environment where you can gain experience and skills in a variety of general surgical specialties? Do you have a particular interest in working a fast paced receiving unit?

Glasgow Royal Infirmary has two receiving wards. Ward 63 (30 beds) and Ward 64 (30 beds) as well as a Surgical Assessment Unit consisting of 12 beds. We see patients direct from A&E and GP for assessment. The patient group present with a wide range of surgical conditions. You will be involved in planning, and delivering safe nursing care to this group of patients. Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a tertiary referral centre where you will encounter patients from surrounding health boards throughout Scotland. This patient population allow surgical wards in Glasgow Royal Infirmary provide the nursing team with diverse development prospects and this is an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills. Surgical receiving will allow you to gain skills towards managing the unscheduled care target and safe and efficient flow of the patient journey. You will have the opportunity to work alongside and be supported by experienced nurses, surgical nurse practitioners and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide essential nursing care. This fast paced interesting environment creates an opportunity where you can feel proud to provide a high standard of care and this role is perfect for a motivated nurse with an interest in the surgical receiving. Previous experience is advantageous and an interest in Surgical Receiving Nursing.
