Full Job Description

We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is Mon-Fri day shift.

(Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic registered nurse to apply for a Band 5 Staff Nurse post which has become available based in the Ophthalmology Pre-Operative Assessment department of Gartnavel General Hospital Glasgow. The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of the Ophthalmology team, and will have the responsibility of assessment of patients prior to surgery.

You will be:

  • Required to work within a busy clinical area, working collaboratively with both nursing and medical teams.
  • Expected to deliver a high standard of evidence based care utilising your clinical skills to assess patients needs, implement and evaluate care.
  • Required to be flexible, forward thinking and able to work effectively within changing and dynamic environment.

Desirable/Essential Requirements:

  • You should have excellent communication and sound decision making skills with evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • An interest in the specialty is essential.
  • Pre-operative assessment experience would be desirable but not essential as training will be given.
