Full Job Description

Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be recruiting, on an exclusive basis, for a Stock Control Accountant to join a manufacturing business based on the outskirts of Glasgow. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a highly collaborative team, tasked with overhauling and modernising the stock management processes for an organisation with over 10m+ of stock across multiple locations throughout the UK. This project role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced accountant with strong stock control and system implementation skills.

The Opportunity

The Stock Control Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate stock records, recommending improvements to stock management processes, and assisting in the transfer of manually held stock records onto a computerised system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor actions to ensure that manually held stock records (valued at 10m+) accurately reflect stock holdings across various UK locations
  • Recommend and support the implementation of robust stock movement processes within a manufacturing environment
  • Verify stock valuations for both year-end purposes and ongoing reporting
  • Collaborate as part of a team to plan and implement the transfer of manual stock records onto the existing computerised system
  • Ensure that processes are in place to maintain accurate stock records, both in terms of quantity and value

The project is anticipated to last approximately 6 months with the possibility for extension and / or permanency.

Background and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An accountancy qualification (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, etc.) or be qualified by experience (experience preferred over qualification in this instance)
  • Demonstrable experience working with computerised stock systems in a manufacturing setting
  • A clear understanding of multi-location stock management
  • Experience in defining and implementing procedures to accurately record stock movements
  • Strong accounting skills for calculating appropriate stock valuations
  • Proficiency in Excel and the ability to manipulate large datasets
  • A cooperative working style with excellent persuasive communication skills to implement changes effectively
Flexibility and Benefits

The role offers a competitive pro rated salary or day rate, dependent on experience, and will be for an initial 6 month term. Moreover, hybrid working is on offer, with the expectation that the successful individual will have to attend various sites as the role requires.
