Internal applications are invited to apply for the position of Student Careers, Employability & Opportunity Manager, within the GSA Careers Service
The Student Careers, Employability & Opportunity Manager will develop, manage and enhance the GSA Careers, Employability & Opportunity Service for our diverse student and graduate body including face to face, hybrid and digital delivery of services. A key focus of the role is to improve the career readiness of our students, ensuring all our students are aware of the Careers support available to them throughout their learner journey, and can confidently engage and access the employability service and guidance they need.
The post holder will possess in-depth awareness of global employment opportunities, as well as an understanding of emergent employment markets, in particular in the global creative industries. They will also understand the processes of self-employment, business enterprise and social entrepreneurship in the creative industries and can confidently articulate and deliver this appropriate guidance and support within the function of the GSA Careers, Employability & Opportunity Service.
The post holder will develop and implement a programme of curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, opportunities and services that are embedded across the academic calendar and have experience of working successfully with academic teams to integrate careers and employability education into the curriculum.
Working within a small specialist institution, the Careers, Employability & Opportunity Manager will be required to collaborate and network effectively using a high level of relationship-building skills with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, to build positive relationships, to lead and manage a small team, and successfully deliver a high-quality student-centred service. They will work closely with the GSA Creative Network team and Development team to build and maintain relationships with employers, alumni and GSA's extensive creative network to promote and develop student and graduate opportunities and the Careers, Employability & Enterprise service.
The role will involve an appropriate balance of service delivery including careers and employability information and guidance, 1:1 mentoring, workshops, embedded curriculum support, development of learning materials, management, coordination and administration., Please note that this is an internal vacancy. · Qualified to Degree level, or equivalent relevant experience and possess a careers guidance postgraduate diploma or equivalent.
· Significant, recent and relevant experience in a careers and employability related role which demonstrates progressive responsibility at a senior level.
· A demonstrable high level of specialist, technical knowledge of careers and employability in higher education.
· Excellent knowledge, understanding and demonstrable experience of how to best embed careers, employability and enterprise into the curriculum.
· Excellent understanding of the HE employability agenda and current best-practice as well as an up to date in depth knowledge of the graduate labour market, particularly, but not exclusively, in the global creative industries.
· Demonstrable experience of developing high quality and sustainable employer engagement partnerships and opportunities.
· Committed to delivering excellence in the student experience ensuring services and initiatives are developed and evaluated in response to the needs of the diverse student body
