Full Job Description

  • A Provide Procurement expertise and deliver a range of activities in support of ship build systems, equipment, parts, raw material and consumables
  • Lead on cost by actively pursuing cost reduction or cost avoidance activities, bench marking of submitted costs to ensure value for money. Record and report cost savings/cost avoidance and deliver ongoing cost analysis
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships, manage Supplier performance and improvement activities, including proactive risk and opportunity management and developing, maintaining and managing a wide range of stakeholders
  • Lead the timely identification, analysis and resolution of internal and external issues, which may potentially affect the supply of material to programme requirements - escalating only when the context is particularly complex or high risk
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Undertake regular reviews of Engineering BoMs to ensure all change is captured and being processed. Establish a method to measure consumption of parts to ensure a smooth flow of materials at all times
  • Regularly review stock levels against consumption to ensure that appropriate min-max levels are maintained and that the range and scale available aligns with current scope.
  • Effectively delegate workload across the team, ensuring priorities are managed. Support less experienced members of the team to manage their workload effectively and identify development needs

    Experience in Contract management with a strong financial background in managing cost to budget, including forecasting
  • Managing a team with the ability to challenge whilst providing support where required
  • Strong stakeholder management experience with negotiation and influencing skills
  • Extensive Procurement experience, MCIPS qualified or working towards MCIPS or suitable experience in a relevant role
  • Desirable:
  • Experience of project management and project control processes and tools
  • Awareness of legal environment related to purchasing contracts and framework agreements
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and toolsets, Advanced Excel preferred
