An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Dunmuir Park Team in Castle Douglas. You will work 36 hours per week in Dunmuir Park Supporting Adults with a Learning Disability to provide which is person-centred and enables people to be as independent as they can, acknowledging people as individuals with rights, views and opinions. You will be part of a team committed to delivering high quality person-centered services based on the principles of self-directed support, ‘The keys to life’ and Health & Social Care Standards. Reporting to a Senior Support Co-Ordinator, you will provide direct care and support and contribute towards personal planning and reviews, team meetings and recording of electronic information

 

You will contribute to the formal assessment of complex needs or service requirements and monitoring the quality and delivery of the service. You will receive regular supervision and support for your professional development in this role with opportunities for learning and training.

 

You must have some experience of paid or unpaid work with people with additional support needs, for example learning/physical disability or mental health conditions. Experience of assessment and recording is essential. You must have a flexible approach to work under pressure and remain objective whilst showing sensitivity towards others. Responsibilities include:

 

To act as a Key worker and assess, develop, co-ordinate and implement support services for Day, Community and Home Support Service users appropriate to individual assessed needs and personal outcomes. These supports will be delivered at times that meet the needs of service users and could involve day and evening support, weekends, sleepovers and/or waking nights.

 

Assume responsibilities for the service in the absence of the Manager and Senior Support Co-ordinator for short periods; incorporating responsibilities for staff, service users, other stakeholders and physical and financial resources.

 

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. 

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

 

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
