Full Job Description
We are looking for Support Workers to join our well-established team in Dumfries supporting a young man with a variety of support needs to lead his best life in his own home. A bit about the young man you would be supporting: "I am 34 years old, and have autism. I live around 15 minutes outside Dumfries on my families smallholding where I have my own house. I enjoy working outside, I'm interested in DIY and gardening and you may be asked to support me with these tasks. My family are a big part of my life and very involved on a daily basis.", Working locally, you will join one of our teams delivering great quality individualised support to adults who have a variety of support needs. You will empower individuals to live as independently as possible, promoting choice, dignity, and well-being. Every day is different in this challenging but rewarding role. If you're caring, reliable, flexible, and passionate about supporting others to achieve the life they desire, then you could be who we are looking for! Applicants must be prepared to work flexibly as part of the team to meet the needs of the people who use our service. Supports will include work in the evenings and weekends as well as sleepovers and waking nights when required. A commitment to a person-centred approach is essential and experience of working with people with learning disabilities is desirable. Join us and make every day matter! If you would like to get involved in support work but cannot commit to a contract because you have other commitments, we also have opportunities to join our register of relief workers who provide support based on their availability.
Experience of working with people with autism is preferred, although not essential. A driving licence and access to a car is preferred due to the rural location. We can offer flexible hours across 7 days on a rota basis. Don't worry if you do not have a drivers licence or experience! We would still love to hear from you as we have vacancies throughout our Nithsdale Services.
At Key and Community Lifestyles we support disabled people of all ages throughout Scotland to make every day matter. We believe that good support is essential for a good life and we work alongside each person we support, and their family, to help them live life to the full. People we support are actively involved in everything we do through our strong partnership with TAG (The Advisory Group) - a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation run by disabled people. TAG supports people to play a central role, alongside our Board of Directors, in shaping the strategic direction of the organisation and ensuring the quality of our services. You can find out more about Key and TAG's partnership here. For over 30 years, Key has been making a positive impact in the lives of countless individuals across Scotland. Their commitment to person-centered support and community inclusion continues to be a driving force behind their work.
We are passionate about being the best employer we can be, ensuring our staff feel supported and valued in their roles.
