Full Job Description
An exciting and innovating opportunity has arisen within South Lanarkshire Council’s Children and Justice Services. We are looking to employ a Qualified Social Worker who has experience of working within a Justice or recovery social work setting and who has a good understanding of Drug Treatment and Testing Order’s (DTTO) and supporting those who experience difficulties as a result of their alcohol and drug use, and find themselves in conflict with the law. The successful applicant will be involved in working across the area of South Lanarkshire as part of the Drug Treatment and Testing Order (DTTO) and Recovery Oriented Justice Service (ROJS) and will predominantly be working with individuals who have been placed on a statutory court order or period of deferral. The key focus of the work will be to provide assessments and interventions to those who have been referred to the service by the Courts and to provide care and support to those who require treatment and interventions as a result of their involvement with the Justice System. The successful candidate will work closely with adults to provide intensive supports engaging with the individual, their families and a range of key partners and services.
Tasks and duties will include completing DTTO and Structured Deferred Sentence (SDS) assessments and creating tailored person-centred action plans to reduce the likelihood of further involvement with the Justice System. The successful applicant will work in conjunction with a range of services and partner agencies including Police Scotland, Scottish Court and Tribunal Services (SCTS), and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS).
Applicants will require to have a sound knowledge of Children and Justice Services and will be expected to work on their own initiative as well as part of a wider team. The successful candidate should have positive communication and relationship building skills. Successful applicants must have good organisation and time management skills and be good at working under pressure; particularly when faced with adversity and challenging/complex needs and behaviours. The successful applicant will be required to have a sound knowledge of Drug Treatment and Testing Orders and a level of experience in working within a Justice or recovery focussed Social Work setting
