Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within South Lanarkshire Justice Social Work for a full time Groupwork Co-ordinator. The successful candidate will work across the Justice locality teams to support the establishment and ongoing co-ordination of a groupwork programme for individuals in conflict with the law in the South Lanarkshire area. The key aim of the role is to support those involved with the Justice System to reduce elements of risk and to support individuals to achieve positive destinations.

This is a new element of locality Justice Social Work and so the role will initially be focused on supporting the development of a groupwork programme under the guidance of management. Thereafter it will involve overseeing the logistics and organisation of the programme to ensure its effective operation. In addition, it will involve contributing to the ongoing development of the content of the programme; liaising with external partners and agencies to form positive links with the programme and promotion and development and co-ordination of the programme internally. It will also include supporting the facilitation of the programme as and when required.

The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of the issues facing individuals in conflict with the law; have a proven track record of co-ordinating and developing programme work and have strong leadership skills. The role also requires the successful candidate to be adept at partnership working, developing good relationships and they must be a good communicator and have sound knowledge of trauma informed practice. 

The successful candidate should have an HNC or other relevant equivalent qualification in health and social care. Applicants should be willing to undertake any necessary training required for the role.

  • Can you give an example of when you have worked in a flexible, imaginative manner to support a service user? Explain what actions you took and why as well as any positive outcomes achieved?
  • Can you describe a situation where you have taken a lead role in service development, what positive outcomes were achieved and what you learned from this experience?

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: £35,019.83 - £36,023.53
