We have a shared ambition for inclusive growth and prosperity for all, where North Lanarkshire is the place to Live, Learn, Work, Invest and Visit. As a Systems & Development Officer, you will play an important role in supporting our Finance service to fully realise this ambition, providing support to deliver our newly refreshed Programme of Work aligned to The Plan for North Lanarkshire. 

Working a hybrid model of office-based within Civic Centre, Motherwell and home-working, you will be a confident, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual with a positive disposition. Additionally, you will be required to display initiative and work well and collaboratively within a team environment. 

You will assist in the effective implementation and development of a number of key financial systems to the Council including the financial ledger, revenues and benefits and debtors systems. Your main duties will include administration of the Council’s corporate financial management systems, review and identify process and system issues and provision of helpdesk support to system users. In addition, you will be required to interrogate and analyse financial systems/records, produce financial reports and statistics, support the implementation of new system developments and automation including system upgrades and interface projects. 

You will require to have practical experience within a finance environment, comprehensive IT experience working with a number of systems, experience of using spreadsheets and databases, and be able to evidence numeracy, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to organise work effectively to meet deadlines. You must be educated to Higher grade or equivalent, with an HNC/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant qualification being desirable. Knowledge of financial ledger / accounting systems, and the ability to plan and monitor the work of clerical staff are desirable, but not essential.

As a requirement of these posts, the successful candidates will be subject to a criminal conviction check through Disclosure Scotland.
