Kinross High School

As a Teacher of Chemistry at Kinross High School, you will have the opportunity to join an experienced, innovative and supportive team of practitioners.  Our department offers a range of qualifications ranging from N3 to Advanced Higher Chemistry, Laboratory Science and the Science Baccalaureate.

As a faculty, we believe that science is not confined to the classroom and offer a range of experiences and events beyond timetabled lessons that excite and inspire our learners.   One of our team’s most recent successes was receipt of the Stem Nation award for 2023.

We value ambition, compassion, resilience and responsibility in both our staff and pupils and enjoy positive relationships with our leaning community.

Our school is part of Loch Leven Community campus which provides modern teaching facilities with excellent transport links, and is easily commutable from any area in east central Scotland.

Our vision of learning together, achieving together is underpinned by our professional learning programme and we are very proud to have achieved the Excellence in Professional Learning GTCS award (2020).

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to take part in our established leadership development programmes, our annual professional learning conference as well as taking part in coaching and mentoring sessions to name but a few.

Interviews for this position will be held on Friday 4th October 2024.

The interview process will form two parts:

2.    50 minute observed lesson
3.    30 minute panel interview

You will also be offered a tour of the school.

Your lesson should be prepared for a mixed ability S3 class and should be a standalone lesson on how to form insoluble salts from precipitation covering the National 4 and National 5 requirements for this topic.  Young people will have limited prior knowledge having covered an introductory topic, rate topic and the atom topic earlier in S3.  Your lesson should be designed to capture the young peoples’ interest and to inspire them in the chemical sciences as well as informing them about insoluble salts.

If you have any questions about this process or would like to request any chemicals and practical equipment, please contact Dr Armstrong by emailing GMArmstrong@pkc.gov.uk

A promethean smart board will be available in the classroom and you can bring your own device.  Alternatively, you can email any work you would like to present before interview and this will be loaded onto a device for you.

Please note that we welcome applications from potential full or part-time members of applicants.
