The Community School of Auchterarder

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and driven individual to join our Secondary teaching team as a Teacher of English.

This a part-time, permanent post. The role is 0.8 FTE and, for this academic session, is timetabled across 4 days on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The successful candidate will be joining a team who are passionate about the subject of English and the delivery of excellent learning and teaching that inspires and motivates our young people to achieve their potential.

Our English Faculty comprises four teachers.

It is anticipated that interviews for this post will be held on Friday 27 September 2024

About the School

The Community School of Auchterarder is an all-through school, comprising Nursery, Primary and Secondary departments serving the community of Auchterarder and surrounding district.

We have a roll of approximately 1,100 children and young people across all three sectors.

The school is situated in a rural location, approximately 14 miles south of Perth with good road networks to the rest of Perthshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh and the central belt.

Our Associated Primary Schools are Aberuthven, Blackford and Dunning.

The Individual

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled classroom practitioner who loves their subject and is adept at using a range of strategies to get the best out of all pupils.

You should also have a clear understanding of excellent teaching and how children learn.

The successful candidate will be committed to obtaining the highest standards of attainment and be willing to play a full part in the department’s strategic aims of raising literacy standards and striving for consistently excellent learning and teaching. 

The successful teacher will have high aspirations for learners, good communication skills with parents/carers and be able to maintain respectful relationships with colleagues, with an enthusiasm for collegiality.

The successful applicant will be skilled in positive behaviour management techniques.

An ability to utilise data to ensure that outcomes for young people are the best they possibly can be, will also be required.

Lastly, the successful candidate will have a willingness to engage in, and apply, relevant findings from educational research to improve their practice.
