Job Advert

Teacher of Mathematics, St Kentigern's Academy, 35 hours per week, Permanent, Closing Date 27th March 2025

This post has a 11th August 2025 start date (subject to completion of all recruitment checks)

St Kentigern’s Academy is a Catholic secondary school situated in Blackburn serving the west of West Lothian, and the catchment area retains a community spirit and aspects of its mining cultural heritage.  It is one of three denominational schools in West Lothian.  The school has ten associated primary schools, but in session 2023-2024 our S1 is made up of students from twenty two primary schools, drawing a comprehensive mix of students.

The current school roll is 1150 Students with 92 FTE members of teaching staff. Departments are organised under the direction of a Principal Teacher Curriculum responsible for each Curricular Area. The school’s free meal entitlement (FME) for session 2023/24 is 20.1%. The school has an integrated Autism Support Unit (Multi-Study) in addition to a Learning Base, Nurture Base and both an Employability and a Health & Wellbeing Hub.

In St Kentigern’s Academy we recognise that the curriculum is not only ‘what’ students learn but also ‘how’ they learn.  We place an emphasis on the student experience and seek flexibility to ensure that students achieve success in examinations and through personal achievement pathways.

Aims

  • To provide a Christian community in which all members are equally respected, are treated fairly and are supported to achieve to the best of their abilities.
  • To promote the highest standards of achievement and attainment for all our Students.
  • To provide a supportive learning and teaching environment and an effective curriculum that encourages each young person to develop their full potential academically, spiritually and socially.
  • To help young people to play a full and active part in the life of their community and to encourage participation by parents and the wider community in the life and work of the school.

The key priorities for session 2025-2026 are:

  • To further develop our approaches to supporting students health and wellbeing
  • Raising attainment for all, particularly in literacy and numeracy
