Stronsay Junior High School

Teacher of Physics

7 hours per week (0.2 FTE)
Permanent

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Teacher with experience of teaching Physics up to National 5 level or equivalent.

This part-time post could be fulfilled either by a teacher resident on Stronsay, or on an itinerant basis travelling daily from the Orkney Mainland. The current school timetable would see the 7 hours worked on a Monday, but we are open to applicants seeking a different working pattern, timetable permitting.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher to join a dynamic and forward-looking school. With a pupil population of 42 (including pre-school), Stronsay is a vibrant island school. The suitable candidate will join a committed and enthusiastic staff team, some resident and some itinerant. All staff in the school show a commitment and desire to continually improve the quality of learning and teaching.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.

You must be registered, or in the process of registering, with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.

Salary will be based on the SNCT Salary Tables plus Distant Islands Allowance. For a successful candidate resident on Stronsay, Remote Schools Allowance would also be paid.

Prospective applicants are warmly invited to discuss the post by contacting the Head Teacher, Petra McLay, tel: or e-mail petra.mclay@glow.orkneyschools.org.uk

Closing Date: Sunday 29 September 2024

Please note that interview and relocation expenses will be paid for this post, in accordance with Council policy.
