Full Job Description

The School of Medicine is looking to recruit a practically-minded, enthusiastic person with an interest in science to join the school as a Teaching Technician. The role holder will assist the Senior Teaching Technician to prepare, set up and run science practical classes for undergraduate medical students. In addition, there will be occasional tasks of assisting other practical teaching sessions and assessment activity in the School of Medicine to improve business resilience across the technician team. The role holder will also provide holiday cover for the Research Laboratory glasswasher.

The role will be based in the School of Medicine and is a hands-on, learn-as-you-go opportunity. Initially at Grade 2, there is the potential for advancement upon successful completion of a structured training and development programme (after 12-18 months). It would suit someone curious about physiology, histology, pharmacology and microbiology. There is a significant physical component to the role and good manual dexterity, and good manual handling practices are required. If you enjoy a varied working week and work well as part of a team, we look forward to hearing from you.
