Team Leader – Inclusion and Community Sports Hubs (16/351)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader to join our Leisure, Culture and Wellbeing team and lead on delivery of our Inclusion and Community Sports Hub development work.

 

The successful candidate will be required to lead the planning and development of Community Sports Hubs at Tier 2 and Tier 3 level and develop a strategic approach to the development of inclusive opportunities in sport and physical activity focussed on key target groups.

 

The postholder will have a strong grasp of the local community sport environment across Dumfries and Galloway, and knowledge and experience of applying the principles of sportscotland’s Community Sport Hub programme. We are seeking someone that has substantial experience and a good track record of community engagement and supporting third sector organisations, including local sport clubs, and someone that will value and promote equality, diversity and inclusion within school and community sport.

 

You must be Educated to SCQF Level 9 or above and be able to demonstrate extended management experience in a Leisure and Sport or Health and Wellbeing environment.


This challenging and stimulating role is part of a wider team developing and supporting Sport and Wellbeing across Dumfries and Galloway and will be expected to value and promote equality and diversity within Community Sport.

 

The role will require that you are able manage competing priorities against deadlines. Experience in partnership working is essential as is in depth knowledge of the local and national policy context for physical activity, health and education.

 

 

Requirements

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

 

You will be required to work 36 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.
